As a family we select a family in need and on the 12 days before Christmas we leave gifts on there doorstep, ring the bell and run and hide. We leave age appropriate gifts for the children. We research and leave gifts for the adults too. On the last day food for Christmas dinner. We usually select the family through church or school. Depending on the situation we sometimes make and leave a recipe book, or leave a pre made meal ready to heat and eat. We have never been caught!

My family's a big christmas lunch together then plays "dirty santa" or "chinese Christmas" game to exchange gifts. I love just spending all day with them.

My kids always get to open one gift on Christmas eve and of course, it's always their new Christmas pj's to put on after their baths so they look all pretty on Christmas morning when we take all of our pictures. I always try to slip in a small toy just to make it a little more fun. We also have Christmas eve dinner so that on Christmas we eat leftovers so no one has to do any work and we can just spend the whole day playing with the kids. It always makes for an amazing holiday.

Hi Candace,
I already follow PBD on FB and of course I am your follower silly! LOL
For Christmas there are a lot of traditions, but I really like the newest one that I have been exposed to through my finace' and his family. We gather around on Christmas Eve and sing several carols as a family, then we always play a game, and of course the food is in ample supply. The one game I remember that was really fun, was when we split off into teams and dressed one of our team members like Santa. The catch? We could only use 10 sheets of red construction paper, scotch tape, a handful of cotton balls, and a roll of black crete paper. The pictures were phenomenal!
:O)

I stopped by PBD on FB to say Thanks!

Okay...criteria met!

When my kids were really young, we would just wake up on Christmas morning and dive into all the presents, and that part of it was over in a matter of minutes. The kids were overwhelmed, they didn't know what gift came from whom, and it all seemed very anti-climatic after a month or more of planning, shopping, wrapping etc.

One year, we decided to do it differently, and it stuck! It's been our favorite tradition ever! When we wake up, we go see what Santa has left in our stockings. He tends to wrap a lot of the presents he leaves in there! We take our time and have fun and really enjoy it. Then we stop and have a really nice breakfast. When the kids were younger we would light candles and serve oj in wine glasses, which they thought was a real treat. Then we would have easy to fix items like sweet rolls, bagels and cream cheese etc. After a leisurely breakfast, we would go back to the tree and pass the presents out, and take turns opening them one at a time. It was fun to be able to see their reactions and they really enjoyed seeing ours!

I know most people would say that their kids would NEVER be that patient, and that's what I thought too the first time we tried it. But they LOVED it and they loved going back to school later and telling their friends that they opened up presents til 1 o' clock in the afternoon on Christmas day!!

Hi Candance, One of our Christmas traditions is that every Christmas eve we have to read Twas the Night Before Christmas. Another of my favorite Christmas things is being sneaky -- my favorite is when my 15 year old found a lamp she really liked for her room! i told her we would buy it but she had to act surprised when she opened it Christmas morning --- well to her surprise i actually took the lamp out and put in the camcorder she wanted for her France trip that year!!!!

My favorite Christmas tradition is when I host Christmas Eve at my house, after dinner, everyone participates in making Gingerbread houses. I think only a few Gingerbread houses actually get made but their is a lot of eating of the candy. It is always fun to take pictures of the creations!

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is to have "Santa" visit on Christmas Eve. He dresses up and delivers stockings to the children in our home. It's so sweet and touching...

Wow where to start we have loads of traditions. We start with opening a small present on Christmas Eve just before Baba's bed time, then we leave out the biscuits or cakes we have made Christmas eve daytime for Santa and a carrot for the reindeer and sprinkle our sparkly oats out on our path, so that Santa can see which house to go to. We then put our slate tile that leaves a little note for Santa in the window so that he doesn't get confused. That is just the Christmas eve traditions.
I have also done all the other bits too xx

As my children got older & started to question Santa! I started hiding their Christmas Presents, almost like a treasure hunt. I made up a rhyme that told them how many presents they were looking for and what colour of wrap their presents were in. but that was all. As a family we had great fun with the kids asking for more clues and it just kept the magic of Christmas alive for that bit longer & even now at 18 & 20 they still enjoy the game. Long may that continue :-)

Our favorite family tradition started after losing both my parents my kids and I decided to make thanksgiving a lot more enjoyable by decorating for christmas by putting up the tree after a big turkey dinner but the best part of the evening is getting out the homemade stocking made by my mom and hanging them on the mantle and giving thanks for the beautiful memories we had with her and my dad! we have continued this for 7 years now! Each year just as difficult but much more rewarding! blessing to you and your over this holiday and season to come! susan , Iblingit@yahoo.com

Our holiday tradition is to bake holiday cookies and send them to all our family across the country. Each year we try to change up the different flavors.

Thanked Pink by Design of FB for their give-a-way and their inspiration.
Our thanksgiving is in October so we look forward to Christmas.
I have 3 teenage daughters and we always go out as a family and pick out our Christmas tree then we decorate it together. My oldest who is 19 is the most excited about Christmas and loves traditions. One being going to church as a family on Christmas eve.
My parents come from Nova Scotia to spend the holidays with us and we get together with my husband's family for Christmas dinner, alternating houses every year. This year it's at our house. We have quite a house full, but always a great time.
Blessing to you and your family this holiday season. :)
